Thanks to a great tip by deGallo I decided to check out Click Repair as a tool for remastering last night and after some experimenting have found it to be amazing! 


Last night I remastered these five albums using it:


Twiggy - Twiggy
Paul Williams - A Little Bit Of Love
Heatwave - Candles
Liz Damon - Me Japanese Boy I Love You
Jack Jones - A Song For Us


And I listened to all of them today and the results were brilliant! It means I can push out albums to you guys much quicker now!


All of the above albums will be released here this weekend!

Sometimes you have to indulge yourself, and no website of mine is complete without a few choice Burt Bacharach albums. If there was one era I could jump back in time to it's the era in which Burt and his groovy-lounge chord sequences were at in the hearts of minds of many pop music lovers everywhere. Anyone who says Burt is "easy" hasn't listened to the six minute version of "Wives And Lovers" or the startling "Freefall". For nice songwriting, check out "Hasbrook Heights". This is one of my alltime favourite albums.

Heatwave are such an underrated disco / pop / funk band that are mostly known for their biggest hit "Boogie Nights". I've been seeking out each of their albums for a while now and I can't stop sticking them on heavy rotation. This is a strong, well-engineered, slickly-penned album full of soulful disco awesomeness. Just listen to the previews below to see what I mean! Hopefully more Heatwave coming on VS soon! -

This is such an obscure and yet very awesome album by Sir Burt of Bacharach! Some gorgeous arrangements to his standards at the time, consisting of many songs that featured (in different recordings) on the Lost Horizon soundtrack. The world started to turn away from Burt at this time, but that doesn't mean this should be overlooked! Let me know what you think!

There are so many George Michael and Wham! hits that you forget about this brilliant effort from 1983 that is slick, hooktastic and very, very poppy! I have been playing Love Machine all week and I feel that maybe it's time that Wham! were back in vogue. This album is nearly thirty years old already! Wow!

Jack Jones never is discussed alongside Sinatra or Bennett but churned out classic album after classic album in the sixties and seventies. Bacharach's "Wives And Lovers" punchy number was the song that launched Jones, and hear is the album, in pristine original mono and never released on CD!!

This is another classic Jack Jones album that has brilliant numbers such as "The Mood I'm In" and "Bewitched". This is in original mono and as far as I know the album hasn't been released on CD in any version - and if it has it's long-deleted now! Enjoy some lounge crooning from the master Jack Jones!

The film was a massive flop when it came out in 1973; Bacharach was losing his vogue and the musical feeling in the air was changing. However, the soundtrack is still brilliant Bacharach - you want proof then check out "The Things I Will Not Miss", "Reflections" or the vibrant, life-affirming "Question Me An Answer". I have a copy of the film on DVD and have yet to watch it, but the soundtrack has been spun a dozen times or so since I acquired it! This has been released on CD from a vinyl master - but IMHO this rip is ten times better! Enjoy!

This is not really required but I am having a big Macca kick at the moment - I was working in the States and managed to see him in concert at Wrigley Field in Chicago and so I dug this out!! Wings are SO UNDERRATED it hurts - they'll get their day again soon. This is an interesting selection - leaving out lots of quality numbers in favour of some obscure cuts - such as the BRILLIANT Junior's Farm.

Trust me when I say that this LP is rarer than rare, and it cost me the most I've paid on eBay that's for sure!! The brilliant soft-op lounge tones of Liz Damon, performing "Me Japanese Boy", one of my favourite Bacharach/David obscure hits as well as a host of others. The songbook of Neil Sedaka crops up a few times, and this is half-hour of pure smokey lounge gold. Enjoy! You won't find this on CD anywhere!

A perfect, if slightly studio-faked, snapshot of the Fab Four in their fan-screaming prime, here is a rock&roll audible treat soaked in mid-sixties hysteria. The album is over before you know it, and it's no wonder John, Paul, George & Ringo all decided to retreat to the studio after experiences like this. Personally, I love the abridged "Twist And Shout" at the beginning and Ringo's turn at "Boys". Delightful!

I’ve always been a Roger Moore Bond fan as opposed to Connery or Craig or whoever. The seventies pandered to all the aesthetic motifs that I value in a James Bond – and this soundtrack is no exception. Composed by the sprightly Marvin Hamlisch, fresh from his multiple Oscar success with The Sting and included the popular Carly Simon number Nobody Does It Better. This is funky, lounge James Bond trying to compete with the disco crazes of the day. Check out the two samplers below to get a sense of what I mean!

Thank heavens Walter Wanderley came to prominence in such a forgiving time – because his lounge/samba/bossa-nova albums are a comforting delight to yours truly! Deliciously blending the occasional sultry vocal with his relaxed organ sounds this is definitely one for the beach! The front cover should give you a good idea of how you will feel after listening to the eleven cuts on offer here! But don’t take my word for it…tuck in!

The engineering and sound design is something else – and I just CANNOT stop playing Party Poops or the title track! This is the second Heatwave album I’ve brought to the Shipwreck’s shores after CANDLES and I hope to bring Too Hot To Handle to you guys soon as well! Party party party! -

The Bee Gees were so prolific as songwriters that some of their best songs were given to other artists in the seventies, and Samantha Sang is essentially a one-hit wonder with Emotion, a fantastic Gibb ballad that defines their latter-seventies work as much as anything from Saturday Night Fever. The whole album is a gem, and as the master tapes were destroyed this hasn't been released in remastered CD form ever - listen to my restoration of the above and tell me if you can find a better version anywhere!

Lots of needledrops are on the way!

So I've been tinkering around the scenes - flying around the world with my job / buying vinyl / enjoying life.

I've missed this. And yes, I'll get round to uploading all of the Paul Williams LPs I have! I get at least one email a day about that.

Cliff does not get the acclaim he deserves. This might be my most listened to LP of the last year. Breezy with a terrific energy and amazing songs, coupled with a virtuoso backing of The Shadows, Norrie Paramore's production and the Mike Sammes Singers. What more could you ask for? The soundtrack to English Sixties just before Beatle Mania. Available here in MONO which has, to my knowledge, never been released on CD. Let me know what you think!

I adore Deodato. I renewed my love in him when I saw him perform at Ronnie Scott's a few weeks ago. This is very rare indeed. The CD version fetches big bucks and is out of print. This album perfectly encapsulates his fusion of Jazz, Funk, Disco and Seventies Pop. Much better than Meco. Check out the blisteringly awesome Deodato-esque version of Star Trek!!
